Ceremony Honoring Local Veterans
Dunkin’ Donuts Center - Providence


The Rhode Island Convention Center Authority hosted a public ceremony to honor local veterans at the War Memorial located at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center – Providence on Wednesday, June 21st at 12 noon. The War Memorial is an honor roll of Providence veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, as well as Rhode Island Medal of Honor recipients.

The ceremony provided an opportunity to visit the War Memorial one last time before it was placed in storage to protect it during construction. Veterans, media and the public were invited to attend the ceremony. Participants included Governor Carcieri, Lt. Governor Charles Fogarty, Mayor Cicilline, Colonel Joseph Rooney, 103d Field Artillery Brigade Commander, Theodore Low, Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, Roland Watts, Sr., Pawtucket Veterans Council, and the Providence Police Color Guard.
